Hexagon has reported a strong  second quarter of 2011 with organic growth in net sales of 13 per cent, at €543.5M, and EBIT earnings up by 81%, at €114.3 M.


Whole vehicle engineering and test consultancy MIRA has completed a major refurbishment and upgrade of the primary climatic wind tunnel (CWTone) at its Midlands headquarters to support the business’ continued growth.


Economics is an inexact science, never more so than today with uncertainty being the characteristic of our age. The National Measurement Office has launched its National Measurement Strategy for 2011 – 2015. The strategy is designed to exploit the UK Government's investment in measurement research to support economic growth and to improve the UK's competitiveness and scientific excellence across all areas of business and government.


In response to increased demand for its measurement and healthcare products, Renishaw, the UK-based engineering company, has announced a series of initiatives designed to provide the additional capacity required for its anticipated business growth over the longer term. These include the acquisition of the soon to be vacant 461,000 sq ft Bosch manufacturing facility, located to the west of Cardiff, Wales, and the submission of planning applications to extend three of its existing facilities in Gloucestershire.

Barclays Corporate has jointly arranged a £125m Revolving Credit Facility (RCF) to support the growth plans of Bodycote plc both in the UK and overseas.

Following the announcement in March this year of £45m from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) for nine national Centre’s for Innovative Manufacturing, the first of these centres was launched officially at Cranfield University last July.


Delegates to the upcoming LVMC’11 conference and exhibition on portable and large volume measurement will get a bird’s eye view of the iconic aircraft, Concorde, as they listen to the speaker presentations.

Trescal, the international specialist for calibration services, has acquired Benelux leader Stork Intermes, from Stork Materials Technology (SMT), a material testing group headquartered in Netherland.

Investment into Europe by Chinese manufacturing companies is set to reach record levels in the second half of 2011, according to analysis by Deloitte, the business advisory firm.
