National Instrument are holding an introductory event, Practical Tips and Techniques for Measurement Applications


Off-the-stand sales made the recent MACH 2010 exhibition a great success for Aberlink, UK manufacturer of coordinate measuring machines, vision systems and measurement software.


The UK's National Physical Laboratory (NPL) is using an Olympus LEXT OLS4000 confocal microscope in a project to establish good practice guidelines for the calibration of 3D/areal surface texture measuring instruments.


The Large volume Measurement Conference and Exhibition, LVMC'10, has issued a Call for Papers. This is your opportunity to submit a presentation or paper for LVMC'10. The organisers will be acceptiing abstracts until Friday 20th August 2010.


On June 8th, FARO, leading provider of portable measurement and imaging systems, and Airbus, one of the world's leading aircraft manufacturers, announced  that they had signed a five-year agreement for FARO to be a key supplier of laser trackers and measurement accessories for the new Airbus A350 project assembly line. This agreement includes 62 FARO Laser Tracker ION units and also covers Airbus' key system providers for fixtures and production systems.


Dr Vince Cable MP, the new Secretary of State at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) along with Mark Prisk MP, Minister of State for Business paid a high profile visit to the UK's leading manufacturing exhibition, MACH 2010, held in Birmingham  earlier this month.

Prime Minister David Cameron has approved the Automotive Assistance Programme (AAP) grant of £20 million to Nissan to support the production of electric cars. At Prime Minister's Questions on June 9th, he said the investment for the Sunderland factory would be going ahead, maintaining about 2,250 jobs at Nissan and across the UK supply chain.


Technology company, Renishaw, reported better trading activity in its (unaudited) Interim management statement.  Chairman and CEO, Sir david McMurtry, said on May 14th, "In our interim results statement in January 2010, we reported an improvement in order intake and our order book. This trend has continued during the latest quarter, with an order book at the end of April 2010 of £24.1m, compared with £9.7m at the start of the financial year.


Car and commercial vehicle production motored ahead last month compared with May 2009, the SMMT announced last Thursday, 17 June.


Hexagon Metrology has improved the performance of its  DEA GLOBAL Advantage 15.xx.14 and 20.xx.15 bridge CMMs.   "Remarkable improvements in terms of accuracy have been achieved thanks to an enhancement program strategy applied to several machine components, as well as to the manufacturing and assembly process", says Dario Tessarollo, Product Line Manager of Bridge CMMs, EMEA. "We have been able to achieve an accuracy of up to 3+3L/1000 μm (MPEE). We can offer our customers a technologically advanced foundation-free solution for the inspection of large and accurate components".
