The free technical seminar programme for Southern Manufacturing & Electronics 2013  event takes place in two lecture theatres on both days of the show, February 13th and 14th. The 2013 programme features a line-up of presenters and topics, guaranteed to be of interest to anyone involved in electronics, engineering, manufacturing or export.


The Coordinate Metrology Society (CMS) call for papers is now open for the 29th annual Coordinate Metrology Systems Conference (CMSC) to be held July 22 - 26, 2013 in San Diego, CA., USA. The CMS is the eminent membership association for measurement professionals around the globe.


Renishaw, the UK-based engineering technologies company and Young Engineers, the organisation devoted to encouraging careers in engineering, have launched a competition that will enable 6 young people to experience a unique week-long insight into engineering-based organisations. The Renishaw Engineering Experience, which is open to all full-time UK students aged 16-18, will run annually for an initial three years, with the first event taking place in June 2013.


The Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA) and the University of Sheffield AMRC are organising a Future Aerospace Manufacturing Seminar and the launch of New Apprenticeship Pathways on 8 February in Sheffield. The key note address will be given by a senior government minister.

The National Physical Laboratory, the UK's National Measurement Institute, has developed a new range of three dimensional standards for verifying freeform coordinate measurement machines (CMMs). The standard allows the verification of portable and fixed non-contact coordinate measuring systems such as those employing laser scanning and fringe projection technologies, as well as those employing tactile sensors. It also helps evaluate the surface measurement capabilities of new scanning measurement technologies.


At the October 2012 Nadcap meeting in Pittsburgh, the Nadcap Management Council approved Measurement & Inspection as a formal Nadcap Task Group. This means that Nadcap Subscribers and Suppliers can now formally meet to develop audit checklists
